Rodrigo y Gabriela
Reviewing music isn’t the typical norm for my site. Usually I turn to my buddy John at johnvaeth.com whenever I want to read up on music. But I thought I’d give Rodrigo y Gabriela a plug since their music is absolutely amazing. After seeing their act on Letterman, I headed on over to iTunes and bought the album. Being a fan of acoustic guitar I was pleasantly surprised by their covers of Stairway to Heaven and Metallica’s Orion, a song I literally haven’t listened to since grade school.
The other day I ran across their guitar tutorial on Google video. Being one who always wants to learn (even though I can barely play 2 chords on a guitar), I was glued for the whole 15 minutes watching them demonstrate their techniques. It’s interesting to see how they work together. Alone, each person’s ability on the guitar is beautiful in their own right. But in the video when they combine their efforts you hear how much more their music is and notice what one is missing when the other isn’t playing. So enjoy the video… I swear Gabriela’s hand moves too fast for the camera to capture when she strums the guitar.
