Time to enjoy Chicago

Spring is teasing us and summer is almost here. You can complain about the weather, you can complain about the traffic. Our fair city may sleep when New York never snoozes, but no city compares to Chi-town when the weather goes from dark and gray to clear blue skies. Here are some things that I can’t wait to do when the cold finally breaks:

  • Rusell Peters is coming to Chicago - He has two shows this month at The Vic Theater. You can do a search for him on YouTube and see some of his act.
  • Rodrigo Y Gabriela - Another show I can’t wait to see at the Vic. I wrote about their music a while back in this post. For a while I was scared that their show would be canceled because of visa approval hold-ups. Another sign of the times, but everything worked out and the show goes on!
  • Cruising down Lake Shore Drive - With all the windows open of course.
  • Body Worlds 2 at The Museum of Science and Industry - Alright, it doesn’t have to be warm out to see it. I missed the first showing, I’m not going to miss the second. Only 5 weeks left to view this exhibit though, I better get to it!
  • Cloud Gate, a.k.a. The Bean - Been here plenty of times before, but I never get tired visiting it. My friend CN wants to go hug it and I’ll be capturing the moment with my camera. Let’s hope we both can get there at 6 in the morning to see it before the crowds show up.
  • The Chicago Outdoor Film Festival - July 17th through August 28th. It’s always a unique experience watching a good flick in the park under the stars and surrounded by the glow of high-rise buildings.
  • The Chicago Summerdance - Another free event in the park. If you’re into ballroom dancing, and who isn’t… here’s a great chance to stretch your legs.
  • Blue cheese burgers at Moody’s Pub - Yum, my mouth is salivating just thinking of it. Always a great place to grab a burger and beer and sit outside. Be sure to bring cash since they don’t process card transactions.

Just a small preview of what’s to come during warmer times here in Chicago. I’m sure my fellow Chicagoans have their list of warm weather activities - feel free to share!
